About Josh

I serve as the Church Revitalization Specialist for the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association, where my work centers on helping churches regain clarity, stability, and direction. The BMBA invests heavily in the health of its churches, and this role allows me to work directly with pastors, lay leaders, and congregations across our region. My job is simple. I help churches see where they are, understand what God is calling them to be, and take the steps that lead toward long-term health.

Churches do not drift toward vitality. They drift toward whatever is easiest or most familiar. I stepped into revitalization work because I have watched struggling churches come alive again when they commit to honesty, biblical clarity, and courageous leadership. I have served churches of every size and condition. Some were wounded. Some were weary. Some were ready for a new chapter but did not know how to start. The work of guiding a church through those seasons matters to me. It matters because the local church still matters.

My background includes decades of pastoral ministry along with formal training in revitalization, leadership, and theology. I hold an AS in English from Jefferson State Community College, a BS from Athens State University, a Master of Divinity from Luther Rice College and Seminary, a ThM and Doctor of Ministry from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a ThD from Andersonville Theological Seminary. I also completed a Certificate in Apologetics from Biola University, and I am certified as a Vision Framing Strategist with Auxano and a Transitional Pastor through the Alabama State Board of Missions.

When I work with a church, I focus on clarity, honesty, and forward movement. No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just a process that helps churches stabilize, rediscover their mission, and prepare for healthy pastoral leadership. I preach, teach, consult, and guide congregations and search teams through the work that must be done between pastors. My goal is always the same. Leave the church stronger than I found it.

My Family

My wife, Bridget, serves in children’s ministry and brings as much passion for the local church as I do. We have four kids who keep our home active and loud in all the best ways. Birmingham is our home, and we care deeply about the churches that shape the spiritual life of this city.

How I serve Churches

Through the Birmingham Metro Baptist Association, I work with churches across the metro area and beyond. Every church has its own story, but the needs are usually the same. Clear leadership. Honest evaluation. A workable plan. And the willingness to deal with the issues that keep a church stuck.

I am available for:

• Church Consultations
• Preaching and Revivals
• Seminars and Leadership Training
• Strategic Interim Coverage
• Pastor Search Team Training and Coaching
• Vision and Strategic Planning Facilitation
• Church Health Assessments

If your church is ready to move forward, I would be glad to walk with you through that process.
