The Resurrection and Church Renewal
Easter is not just the finish line of Lent or the Sunday for sunrise services and egg hunts. It is the heartbeat of our faith. It is the moment that split history in two. And for struggling churches, it is the reminder that death is never the end of the story.
We focus on the practical aspects of revitalization a lot, and we should because there are practical things that we should do as we try to lead our churches to be healthy. However, we can never forget this foundational key: church revitalization is resurrection work.
Some churches have grown so used to decline, they have stopped expecting life. The attendance is lower, the energy is thinner, and the future feels foggy at best. But Easter says that God is not finished. Our God brings life out of tombs. Our hope is not in branding or flashier programs, but in the same power that raised Jesus from the grave.
That means…
The church that lost its last young adult five years ago is not beyond hope.
The church split that left scars does not get the final word.
The small church on the corner that has not baptized anyone in years is not irrelevant.
God still speaks to dry bones. And Easter proves He still raises the dead.
If your church is feeling stuck or discouraged, do not settle for survival. This is resurrection season. Pray boldly. Preach with urgency. Trust that the Spirit of God has not gone quiet. He is still in the business of breathing life into lifeless things.
And if you need help seeing what resurrection might look like in your context, that is exactly what we are here for.
Happy Easter, friends. Let’s expect life.
